Will brass hardware go out of style?

If you are on this page, you probably have lived enough to experience the coming and going of various metals in interior spaces, from chrome and black hardwares to now brass and nickle. You must be wondering whether it would be a good idea to have brass in your home as you are afraid it would follow the other metals' footsteps and date in a few years time. I'm here to straighten this out for you. Brass is never going out of stye.

Unlike chrome and black hardwares, brass dates back to ancient time when copper and zinc were accidentally mixed during a smelting process. Brass was used extensively by the Romans for coins, jewellery and other artefacts.

Brass handles started to be used in furniture making in the 17th century. It has survived thousands of years in history and there is no reason for us to believe it can and will go way in the next few mere years.

One other reason that brass is here to stay is that it has an old world charm that no other metals have due to the history and context associated with it. This induces a sense of familiarity and comfort that we as human, are constantly longing for. Human nature will not change, and neither is brass going out of style. It may not be trendy in several years, however it will never date.
